The Jewish community of Girona was formally established in 2017, thanks to the efforts of our principal benefactor, Mr. Shimon Aminov.
We are a small community, covering the Girona/Empordà region.
Our mission is to support and collaborate in the preservation of Jewish heritage and Jewish history and memory in the region. Collaborate with the authorities, the Patronat del Call, the Museum of the History of the Jews of Girona and others in various social and recreational activities throughout the year, with the aim of presenting our culture and traditions and getting closer to society in general.
Currently 40 family/individual units participate in our community. We enjoy a great diversity: Spanish, Latin American, Brazilian, Israeli, Russian, French, English, South African, Belgian, North American, and others. Those over 50 years of age make up the majority and we intend to bring children and young people closer to our beautiful Synagogue, inaugurated in 2017 in a historic house in the Barri Vell
We organize religious services, cultural, social and educational activities;
In addition, together with the Patronat del Call de Girona and the Jewish History Museum, we jointly organize different festivities and commemorations, including: Hanukkah and Yom HaShoáh.
